Jun. 19th, 2006 03:56 am- Mergers/deals Gabriel has been responsible for or instrumental in: "Cawdor-Blue Sun merger," sometime shortly before party with Kaylee & Crowley. (Economist article on him which possibly mentioned it.)
- Other companies: Tallis & Co., employs Mr. Waltham somewhere high up (at party)
- Friends/acquaintances/social circle: Marcia Chang (was at said party), and daughter Gertrude Chang, vice-president of Petersen Engineering.
- Regan is/was on the Heritage Preservation committee.
- Quoted phrases: Gabriel quotes "the old axiom" -- "Trust, but verify." He also mentions term "from Japan on Earth-that-Was. Kaizen. Continuous improvement, change for the better. Gai san, if you prefer the Mandarin, for 'sustained benefit through corrective action.'" [and then dooooooooom.]
- Tam household has "reception room" used often for informal business gatherings (including committee luncheons), though it's also for family use.
- Gosja is family cook? General housekeeper/cook/etc sort? Something like that, anyway.
- Gabe has chessboard in the corner of his office, present from sixteen-year-old Simon. (He's always been fond of games of strategy.) The whole family played games of Chinese checkers, at least when the kids were younger.
- The Academy sent reports home on River for her parents to read, at least a few times. "your daughter is progressing well, extremely gifted student, diligent and eager, succeeding beyond our expectations..." River didn't send her mother any letters, and Regan didn't really expect any; she "never got any personal letters from dance camp or summer courses either, just postscripts and cheerful waves to the whole family."
- Childhood litany, taught by her mother: "I will be a stone, and nothing will touch me, because my center is steady stone."
- Regan likes robes for kicking around the house, especially at night.
- River's and Simon's rooms are maintained just as they were.
